Answering the Call, Logan's Journey Begins
Long time clients, Dave and Margaret Bell, recently hit a bittersweet milestone. While their three older children took the college route after graduation, they knew that their youngest, Logan, would likely choose a different direction. Logical, hardworking, and patriotic; Logan decided early in his senior year that joining the military after graduation would be his choice. Recruiters on campus planted the seed, and towards the end of 2021 Logan approached Margaret about his plan.
While Margret was not entirely thrilled at first, after more thought, she and Dave were on board. It is very important to all of them that at the end of Logan’s journey in the military he come out with a transferable skill. At first, they thought that the Marines would be the right fit, but after more thought they concluded that the Navy would be the best direction for Logan. He took an aptitude test and based on his results, he was offered a contract as an aviation mechanic.
All of this happened before Logan graduated from high school in mid-May. The Bells call Colorado home, and their state boasts the BOLDERBoulder 10k which culminates with the largest Memorial Day celebration in the country. Over 100,000 runners and spectators come together in Folsom Field at the University of Colorado for the Memorial Day Ceremony. One of the highlights of the day is the swearing in of a small group of incoming military. This year, Logan was one of about forty that got to participate!
On June 13th Logan was off to bootcamp. Dave and Margaret will head to Chicago for his graduation on August 20th where he will officially become a Sailor! After that, he’s off to Navy A School in Pensacola, Florida to continue his training.
All of us at Kemp Financial thank Logan and the many men and women that serve our Country. Thanks Dave and Margaret for sharing your story, and welcome to the club of empty nesters!
